Blog project sample: The Rotary EngineMazda took on the rotary engine design a while back when BMW sold the concept to them. Because they (BMW) could not perfect it as it was a dead-end and it wasn’t, well, very good.
Mazda bought the design anyways and after some changes, it found its way into its cars such as the RX-7 and the current RX-8.
Now, most of you are probably wondering, what’s so special (or not special) about a rotary engine from all the other engines that everyone hears about? To put it in the most basic terms, rotary engines are not fuel efficient. They down gas and oil faster than Charlie Sheen does with a rock. They break down more than say, a V6 or V8.
They are however, lightweight and fast but at the cost of gas and oil.
To sum it all up in a nutshell, Mazda got the rotary engine as a hand-me-down from BMW and couldn’t make it better but it is still a unique piece of work.
A VeilSide Mazda RX-7. Painted and modded the exact same way as the one seen in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. (Driven by Han)
